Recruiting a Workforce: Engaging the Next Generation in Clean Energy
The Native Clean Energy Workforce Initiative (NCWI) is an educational program that empowers the Native community in Portland to build careers in the solar and renewable energy industries. This unique program—led by the Northwest Native Chamber, GRID Alternatives, and Clackamas Community College with support from the Portland Clean Energy Fund—provides career pathways with a focus on inclusivity and cultural relevance.
We supported NCWI by developing strategic copywriting and messaging that emphasized the initiative’s mission to serve historically underserved communities. Our role involved project management, aligning communications across partners, and ensuring that all messaging highlighted the program’s commitment to providing accessible, culturally respectful education. By prioritizing the voices of Native participants and highlighting their potential to lead in clean energy, the messaging not only informs but also inspires.
This approach has strengthened NCWI’s outreach and community impact, creating a welcoming space for Native individuals to connect, learn, and build meaningful careers that make a difference for both their communities and the environment.
